Park Food and Amenities

We know that an important part of every vacation is good food. That’s why our chefs at Chikalango Restaurant & Bar are proud to serve you delicious authentic Mozambican and international cuisine using fresh, local ingredients.

We’re proud to feature locally grown, organic vegetables in our restaurant that we purchase to support communities around the Park. Our menu has a range of a la carte options including fresh salads, hot appetizers, mouth-watering main courses, and even something to satisfy your sweet tooth. Check out the restaurant menu for a full list of offerings.

Hot breakfast made to order is included in the price of all accommodations (except camping), or you can sample from our breakfast buffet if you have to dash off for a morning game drive. Breakfast options include your choice of eggs, meats, freshly baked breads, cereal, fresh seasonal fruit, and juice. Try a delicious coffee, tea, espresso, or cappuccino to keep you alert on those early morning safaris.

Lunch is a time for relaxation in Gorongosa. The animals are all napping and it’s a great time to grab a bite to eat followed by a lounge by the pool. Choose from a variety of entrees, sandwiches, chips, fresh salads, or soups.

Some typical dinner offerings include fresh Mozambican tiger prawns – if you haven’t tasted these yet, you’re in for a treat! If you’re not a seafood lover, you can try our local chicken, or choose a fine cut of steak accompanied by a selection of local beer, imported wine, or spirits. Vegetarians have plenty of options including vegetarian stews, and matapa – a Mozambican specialty. During our busiest periods we offer a dinner buffet giving you a chance to try it all!

Swimming Pool

As the African sun rises overhead and the temperature warms, afternoons in camp are best spent taking a refreshing dip in the pool. Our two swimming pools are a great place for the kids to have fun while their parents relax on the comfortable lounge chairs. This is what vacation is all about.

Gift Shop

On your memorable vacation to Gorongosa, you won’t want to forget to visit our gift shop. Get a keepsake for yourself or gifts for your loved ones. Our gift shop sells Gorongosa shirts, hats, postcards, books, and locally made crafts.
